The true love of
my life, Charlie, proposed to me in my hometown of
Boaz, WV.We
both had previously relocated to Charlotte years
prior and had met on a blind date in February
2000, so I was more than ready to marry this man.
Since we had
dated almost 4 years prior to his proposal, I
wanted to get married the next year, but frankly,
did not want to spend an arm and a leg and have to
be so involved with the details of planning. Not being a native Charlottean, I began
searching online for possible venues and came
across the typical hotels, but in my heart, I
really wanted something unique and memorable for
our special day.I happened upon The Hitching Post’s
website and after contacting Wendy, made an
appointment for Charlie and me to visit and see if
we liked the location.Upon meeting Wendy, we both felt very
comfortable and fell in love with the location and
charm of the “Post”.We decided that we wanted to utilize
Wendy’s services for the big event and were so
pleased (and relieved!) that Wendy would handle
everything from the rehearsal dinner to the
reception.
The planning
stage was very simple—Wendy and I communicated
mostly via email and all I had to do was let her
know if I had any particular preferences and she
handled the rest. This was so important to me because I
wanted my parents especially, not to have to lift
a finger for the event, but to just attend and
enjoy themselves.
The day of
our wedding arrived and I did not have a single
worry in terms of the logistical details because I
knew that it would be handled.Needless to say, EVERYTHING was magical and
memorable.I
felt so at-ease and Wendy was so organized. Her entire team was friendly, professional
and competent. The day went off without a hitch, well,
except for the bride and groom getting hitched!!!
The nicest
surprise arrived after the big day when we
received our wedding videos.Wendy had compiled a musical medley
consisting of takes from the rehearsal all the way
through to the reception.I play the video often to relive our
wonderful day.
Recently, Charlie
was doing some cleaning around the house and
inadvertently threw away our video.I was heartbroken at first, but then
thought I’d check with Wendy (keep in mind, this
is 2 ½ years AFTER we married) to see if, by
chance, she kept copies.I was pleasantly surprised and greatly
relieved that she did and she even sent us a free
extra copy overnight right after I contacted her.
These days, it is
very hard to find someone that truly takes an
interest in what you’re trying to accomplish and
who approaches a task with so much energy and
devotion.I
think almost every woman dreams of her wedding day
and has since she was a little girl and with Wendy
and The Hitching Post, dreams do come true.
Thanks Wendy, for
making our October wedding so memorable and for
keeping it alive with your exceptional customer
service years after the event!
Lots of Love,
Michelle,
Charlie, and now introducing, Maddy Miller, born
in September!
