Traditional Elopement Package Options

Photography

Included with your package are complete photojournalistic photographic coverage by Wendy Waldron. You will receive a CD with full copyright to print your images. Your images will be as shot and will be given to you the day of your wedding or, if preferred, will be mailed to you within two weeks of your wedding.

For the Traditional Elopement, l start taking photos of the two of you about 10 minutes before the ceremony. Photography will cover the ceremony, first moments together afterward, cake cutting, toast, and first dance (if you choose to have a first dance). We'll also take some formal (posed) photos of the two of you at several locations around the property. You are welcome to suggest poses and locations. The average number of images you can expect is around 100.

Photography options

Custom re-touching is available by request. We can remove unwanted "flaws" and can add color to a black and white photo. The charge for this service depends upon the length of time it takes to fix the "flaw."

Wedding album - Your photos can be posted online, if you request. If you wish, you can design and purchase a wedding album and other prints and products directly from the web site.

Slide show - Your best 50 photos set to music and burned to DVD with pan and zoom effects. $150 for first slide show; $20 for each additional copy. These make great Christmas gifts!

Size it for FaceBook - we'll size up to 5 photos of your choice to use in emails and/or to post on FaceBook. Free for the asking.

Photography shoot - add 1/2 hour shoot to your time. Ideal for the bride or couple who wish to purchase a large portrait or wedding album and want some extra time and effort devoted to their photography and lighting. - $150. Will receive $100 photography gift certificate for that amount to purchase prints or albums online.

Wedding Cakes

At the 1812 Hitching Post, we specialize in freshly made, never frozen cakes in popular flavor choices. Cakes are frosted with our delicious butter cream icing - we can make it extra creamy and light if that is your preference. Cakes are designed and decorated by professional designer, Patrick Waldron.

With the Traditional Elopement Package, your cake will be a two tier round cake. There is an extra charge for square cakes, fondant decorations, live flowers, or candy flowers. You may bring a cake topper, arrange for fresh flowers (see "Bridal Flowers," below), or we can top with silk flowers.

After your cake cutting, we'll wrap up the top tier for you two to take with you to save until your first anniversary.

Bridal Flowers & Decorations

Every bride has her own style. We encourage you to be as creative and include personal items with meaning from your home, if you desire.

Our standard ceremony decoration includes an arbor next to the house decorated with small white flowers and greenery. Colored silk flowers will be added for no extra charge, if requested. We'd be happy to consider any ideas that you suggest for your wedding decorations.

We recommend Cline's Florist in Taylorsville, NC, to order fresh floral bouquets or decorations delivered directly to the 1812 Hitching Post. Music

Choosing the right sounds for your wedding can enhance your event considerably. Music helps create magic. Every event at the 1812 Hitching Post includes personally coordinated music. Our in-house DJ will plan your music selections with you via email. We can also help you arrange for live musicians, if you choose.

You'll want to choose at least a processional and recessional. You may also wish to choose a first dance and other music that is special to the two of you.

Accommodations

We are about six miles from the intersection of two major interstates; I-77 and I-40. Statesville, North Carolina, is the nearest town with lodging. Up to date information about nearby accommodations can be found at http://www.1812hitchingpost.com/lodging.html

Marriage License

In NC, you can get a license in any county in the state. The cost is $60. You can get your license up to two months before the wedding date. The two of you would need to be available on a week day during regular business hours to go to the Register of Deeds in any NC county. Bring your ID (driver’s license).

If you’ve previously been married, you will need to state the month and year your prior marriage ended and the mode (divorce, death, dissolution) and proof of divorce if the event happened within the past 60 days.

Requirements For Obtaining A Marriage License

You can get a marriage license in any county in the state and get married in any county, but the license must be returned to the county of issuance. Both parties must be present when applying for the marriage license.

The premarital physical is no longer required.

Both bride and groom must present identification.

Applicants 18 years of age or above may use the following ID’s: driver’s licenses, state issued ID card, passport or military ID

Applicants 16 or 17 years of age must have written parental consent, certified copies of their birth certificate, and the same forms of ID required for applicants 18 years of age and above in order to acquire a license.

Both bride and groom must provide their social security number. (The card must be presented at time of application.) If an individual has not been assigned a social security, an affidavit must be completed.

Divorced applicants must provide the month and year of their last divorce. If the divorce was finalized within 30 days of applying for the license, the applicant must provide an original or certified copy of the divorce decree as well. There is no waiting period between the divorce an applying for the new license.

The license is good immediately upon issuance and is valid for 60 days.

The fee for the license is $60.00.

Money orders or cash will be accepted.

Marriage licenses are issued between the hours of 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Allow at least 20 to 30 minutes to process.

A reception meal can be added to your package. What is more romantic than private dining for just the two of you or you and your parents or children at the place where you were married? We will work with you to choose a menu that is special for you; feel free to suggest anything from our catering menu.

Base rate for table set up with tablecloth and centerpiece customized for your wedding look, romantic background music, and 1 hour private dining time at main house - $90

Elegant picnic by the lake - choose any meal and have it served at your table set up by the lake with a fire. - additional $60.

Fireside picnic by the lake:
Roast hot dogs and marshmallows and rock in the rocking chairs or fish our 5 acre lake. Picnic includes rocking chairs, blanket, fire, roasting skewers plus a picnic basket with hot dogs, buns, condiments, pasta salad or chips, fruit, drinks, and marshmallows. Fishing poles and bait available or may bring your own.

$120 for picnic for 2 with one hour at lake with fire (weather permitting).
"No -fire" option - $60 for one hour picnic by lake with hibachi.
