Travis and I decided that we wanted to elope, but we had no
idea where to go.
We began looking on the Internet for wedding chapels and
considered going to the beach.Still, something did not seem exactly right about the
places that we found. We wanted an impromptu wedding that still included the
blessings bestowed upon a Christian marriage. We wanted all the romance that a Valentine’s wedding
deserved, and we wanted something original that we could
remember forever.
Then, it happened.A keyword Internet search resulted in a link for a
wedding plantation in North Carolina.I examined every picture and every detail of every
page.I could not
believe what I had found. The most perfect place for a hopeless romantic and his
new conversion to be married, and best of all, it was
surrounded by the history that we both loved.
I sent the link to Travis, and he was equally excited. The 1812 Hitching Post had EVERYTHING we wanted:A historic plantation home with a Chapel, beautiful
scenery, pictures, cake, bubbly champagne—an entire wedding
for just the two of us.We looked through the pictures that Wendy had posted of
previous “Just for Two” weddings, and we could feel the
happiness of the couples.
I called Wendy, and I knew right away that she was the one
person who could definitely make our wedding special and
memorable.And
she did!It was amazing how comfortable Travis and I felt.We were escorted to separate rooms to dress and prepare
for the ceremony.
Beautiful music played while Leslie captured every moment on
video, including tender exchanges between Travis and me.Wendy was so creative and thorough with the
photography, spending time to get just the right shots.Even now, I look at the pictures and can feel every
emotion of the day.All during the experience, we had an atmosphere of fun and
humor that just could not have been felt any place else.
Having our wedding at the Hitching Post was more than we ever
imagined.The
plantation now has a special meaning in our hearts. It’s a place that we would love to include on our
anniversary, during future family outings, and just to see
Wendy and her family again!
